Welcome

WELCOME TO IWCSP 2021!

I am happy and honored to personally welcome each one of you to the 2021 International Workshop on Cryptography, Security and Privacy (IWCSP 2021), which will be held in charming Budapest, Hungary during July 9-11, 2021.

We aim to provide to you all with an amazing venue and setting to elevate opportunities for researchers, scientists, engineers, and scholars to exchange and share experiences, expertise, new insights, and findings in the common research field of Cryptography, Security and Privacy, and to discuss hands-on issues, the challenges encountered as well as the solutions adopted.

Our organization is confronting a time of many changes and we are meeting these changes during a time of larger nation-wide and global change. The field of Cryptography, Security and Privacy is an exciting and pivotal area of knowledge, and we will continue to meet and bring inspired people together in forums like this, ensuring to remain cutting edge.

As part of the IWCSP 2021 conference committee, I am eager and thrilled to invite experts, academics, and professionals from all over the world to participate in this major conference, aiming to improve, enhance and expand our comprehension about these topics, aiming to create new value and insights in order to help promote the advances and changes of the joint academic researches. We encourage authors and scholars to actively contribute and submit their research papers related Cryptography, Security and Privacy, according with the call for papers topics of interest.

In a fractured, divisive world, the development of significant information technologies brought peaceful means to erect "invisible walls" towards malicious attacks and security breaches. However, the cryptography, security, and privacy body of knowledge faces more challenges than ever. New realities brought by Social Media and Smart Cities, generated more questions do address. Online Social Networks and Media natively convey the information quickly and diffusely, in this sense, problematic messages may span biased information aiming to influence communities and agendas to deliberate lies meant to mislead users. This battle against misinformation must be fought at both technological and sociological level. As for Smart Cities, they are truly one of the beneficiaries of the innovations in information technology that brought many opportunities and certainly as many challenges. The way Individuals are interconnected through gadgets, homes, Smart energy meters, security devices and smart appliances are being used in many cities, symbolizing what is known as the "Internet of Things", creating a connected ecosystem and improvement of quality of life. Although it creates new economic and social opportunities, it also poses challenges to our security and expectations of privacy. In this sense, Security includes illegal access to information and attacks causing physical disruptions in service availability. As digital citizens are more and more instrumented with data available about their location and activities, privacy seems to disappear.  Privacy protecting systems that gather data and trigger emergency response when needed are technological challenges that go hand-in-hand with the continuous security challenges.

IWCSP 2021 will be held in the exhilarating and magnificent picturesque capital of Republic of Hungary, Budapest, during its warm summer. As said by the Chef Anthony Bourdain, "It's beautiful here. They said that of course, that Budapest is beautiful. But it is in fact almost ludicrously beautiful." We could not agree more.

The conference will start with the reception and registration the July 9, 2021, followed by two excellent full days of insightful sessions, with a distinguished group of keynote speeches, plenary, parallel lectures, oral presentations, and poster presentations. These two working days will conclude with a social networking event.

Finally, we truly believe that IWCSP 2021 will provide a meaningful program, venue, and platform for all the participants willing to grow, while contributing to pivotal discussions on these suggested topics. We also wish you a memorable experience, hoping to help us pave our way into the future. Throughout this conference, I ask you to stay engaged, keep us proactive and help us shape the future of this field of expertise.

Hungarian Inventor Erno Rubik once said "A good puzzle, it's a fair thing. Nobody is lying. It's very clear, and the problem depends just on you."

My personal respect and thanks go out to all of you!
